Come eat at The Rough Bar & Grill at Battlement Mesa Golf Course where every meal is a hole-in-one. Owner Robin Steffen described The Rough as a “mom & pop bar & grill” which happens to be located at a golf course. The restaurant focuses on classic traditional dishes. Its full-service menu includes breakfast as well as lunch & dinner entrees. Customers on the move can also get items from the grab n’ go menu.
“We serve the golf community and the surrounding communities,” said Steffen. “We host an assortment of events throughout the year, and we get to meet people from all over the United States.” The Rough opened in August of 2022 after Steffen was looking for a career change. The new business gave her the opportunity to combine her love of people and golf.
“I love being part of a community, getting to know my customers on a personal level and having them enjoy great food,” she said.
When it came time to find a location for the restaurant, centering her business at a golf course was like a dream come true. “Golf has been a part of our family for generations,” explained Steffen. “My husband and I love to play golf.” The pair have played at courses all over the country and even played in Egypt on their 30th wedding anniversary.
But Battlement Mesa will always be home to Steffen and her family. “We have been a part of the community for years,” she said. “We value everything it has to offer.”
