Running a destination resort means juggling daily transactions, long-term investments and occasional moments where everything hinges on timing. At Sonnenalp Vail, leadership says their banking relationship has proven most valuable not only in the big moments, but in those times where small details matter most.

“For us, it came down to building a local relationship where we know each other by name,” said Sonnenalp Controller Toni McCabe. She described how that familiarity can make a big difference with important deadlines.

McCabe said that level of responsiveness is tied to having a banker who understands the business context, not just the transaction. She described the relationship as more collaborative than procedural, noting that Alpine takes time to understand Sonnenalp’s goals and operational needs.

Sonnenalp Owner Johannes Faessler described Alpine Bank as small enough to connect directly with decisionmakers, while still able to handle the scope of Sonnenalp’s operations.

He added that working with an institution invested in the same community brings practical advantages, especially when local insight shapes financial decisions.

“We like to work with a bank that is part of our community, invests in our community and supports businesses in our community,” said Faessler.

Looking ahead, Faessler noted the combination of responsiveness, access and local understanding continues to guide Sonnenalp’s approach.

“We will always go to Alpine first for future banking needs,” he said.
