“Waiting for the World,” by Terri Allender

Terri Allender moved to Vail from Denver in 1974, having always wanted to live in the mountains. She began painting in 2007 and has worked in charcoal, pastels, watercolor and oil. She helped found the Vail Valley Art Guild in 2014 with 10 other artists. After she retired in 2016 from being a mental health therapist, she was able to devote more time to art but discovered she didn’t enjoy selling her work. She decided to donate her proceeds to local nonprofit The Sherpa Foundation and added Trio Therapy Partners as a recipient when she moved to Eagle in 2017 and began volunteering with the horse-assisted physical and occupational therapy organization. Allender loves painting landscapes, like this painting of Vail, as well as animals, especially portraits.
