Born for the biz

Born for the biz & in the neighborhood

At Blue Pan Pizza the pies are square, not round. The sauce is on top of the cheese, not under it. And the dough is the product of proper hydration — the alchemy of science and art. The result? Authentic Detroit-style pizza.

Blue Pan Pizza has been going strong since 2014, with its commitment to being a neighborhood eatery and an asset to the community. With two locations now, in Congress Park and West Highlands, Blue Pan Pizza’s entrepreneurial founders Giles Flanagin and Chef Jeff “Smoke” Smokevitch have brought the taste and nostalgia of the Motor City to Denver.

“We’re creating an intentional customer experience through food,” says Giles. “We have a passion for community and pizza.”

With a daily focus on brand, quality control and customer service, the restaurant has uncommon employee retention. In a winning combination, Blue Pan employees are happy and fulfilled, and Blue Pan customers are satisfied. Details are important, up to and including the delivery experience.

“Servers become managers. We’re one of the few restaurants that does its own delivery,” says Giles, in speaking of his philosophy and business practices. “Easy is not always right,” he continues. “And the experience always needs to be consistent for our customers.”
