Coach Trent Andrews instills courage, strength and confidence

Trent Andrews, banking officer at Alpine Bank Durango, has been the Durango High School boys freshman basketball coach for the past four years.

He supports the students in meeting their potential through the lessons and opportunities that sports activities develop, including work ethic, character development and the process of continually striving for excellence.

“I choose to volunteer as a basketball coach because I understand how important my coaches were to my own development as a young adult,” says Trent. “I was lucky enough to have a basketball coach who served as a mentor to me and instilled many values, including diligence, communication and teamwork.”

Trent asserts that these skills, learned through basketball, have served him well and will continue to do that throughout life.

“As a coach, my ultimate goal is to serve as a role model, confidant or mentor for any young man who needs that person in his life,” he says. “I certainly enjoy the X’s and O’s of the playbook and teaching basketball fundamentals, but the real motive is to shape young men into valuable community members who will go on to do great things.”
