Best in Colorado: Alpine Bank Celebrates 45 Years of Trailblazing

One of the Best CO Banks Begins as Roaring Fork Bank

Alpine Bank (formerly known as Roaring Fork Bank) opened in Carbondale on January 23, 1973, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony presided over by Mayor Charles Kelly, Bank Director Wally deBeque, and President Bob Young. The ribbon was made from 50 silver dollars attached to a string of tape. The money was donated to Mt. Sopris Park and marked the beginning of Alpine Bank tradition of community giving and involvement.

Founder and current Chairman Bob Young said he originally adopted his policies of giving back to the community because he thought it would be good for the bottom line. He has since realized charity “isn’t good for the bottom line, it is the bottom line.”

More than 45 years later, hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals have benefited from Alpine Bank and Bob Young’s generosity.

Community events, the arts, animal shelters, sports and recreation, and particularly childcare and education have been the focus of Alpine Bank’s philanthropy. Bob Young was recognized as the Colorado Philanthropist of the Year. In every Alpine Bank community, we are a major donor and supporter for local nonprofits.

Please join us in celebrating the spirit of trailblazing in honor of our anniversary at Alpine Bank—45 years of working, growing and building Colorado communities with you. We know we are truly in this together. That’s why Alpine Bank proudly donated more than $3.7 million to community organizations and paid employees to volunteer nearly 14,000 hours last year alone. We are celebrating inspiring tales of trailblazing by local organizations, community leaders, and entrepreneurs. For more info, visit here
