Red Cross Honors Heroes
The American Red Cross in Colorado honored local everyday heroes who have gone above and beyond to help those in need at their Heroes Soirée event in March. Among those honored was Deputy Sheriff Thomas Vondra who was awarded the Sound the Alarm Award for risking his life by entering a burning building. His lifesaving actions during a structure fire secured the safety of a child and an adult. His actions saved lives.
With an impactful night of Celebrating
Community, the American Red Cross of Colorado raised $567,000 to prevent and alleviate human suffering
in
the
face
of
emergencies.
Last
year alone nearly 700 families were aided, following a disaster
(most often house fires),
over 8,000 military
men and women received Red Cross support and more than 60,000 Coloradans were trained in lifesaving and preparedness skills. As
a supporter of the American Red
Cross of Colorado, Alpine Bank was thrilled to attend
and help honor local heroes in our Colorado community.
Over 600 community
members attended this year’s Heroes Soiree which included a call-to-dinner
parade, live music and a paddle
raiser featuring former Denver Bronco Reggie Rivers. Speakers of the
evening included, Lt. Governor Dianne
Primavera, Denver Mayor Michael
B. Hancock and American Red
Cross CEO Gino Greco. Attendees included Soirée Co-chairs Alpine Bank President Norm Franke and his wife Lisa, Christian and Jill Anschutz and Rick Steiner
and Deirdre Wildman of Chrysalis, community members and volunteers.
