Erlinda Morehead gives where she lives – in Aspen

Erlinda Morehead, senior VP and regional operations officer for Alpine Bank in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley has been with the bank for 24 years. Her tenure volunteering with St. Mary Catholic Church, and the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, exceed even her impressive bank tenure, at 31 and 39 years, respectively.

She’s a parish council member and a children’s religious education teacher at St. Mary.

“Why I choose to volunteer is simple; I’m a part of my community. If can help where I’m needed perhaps it will a better place to live,” says Erlinda. “I teach religious education to children. They’re so inquisitive and full of wonder and it’s so rewarding to be able help strengthen their faith.”

As a part of the parish council, Erlinda does outreach to help grow the parish, and is a part of planning and executing many events. “It makes our parish meaningful and fun,” she says.

The Food & Wine Classic is a quintessential Aspen event, taking place each June for four decades now. It’s been an important part of growing the year-round tourism economy in Aspen, and considered to be the “unofficial kick-off to summer”, it’s beloved by visitors and locals alike. Erlinda volunteers as a committee chair, and has been involved with the event basically since its start.

“Food & Wine is such a grand affair and let’s be honest: Who doesn’t like delicious food and wine? I’m grateful to volunteer at this event, the Wheeler Opera House and many other annual events in our community,” says Erlinda. “It’s a privilege to serve.”
