Alpine Bank Wealth Management’s Matt Michalski, Vice President/Trust Officer, joined the organization in April 2019. Previously, he worked for an investment bank in New York City as an institutional equity market maker. Matt earned his bachelor’s in business administration from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan where he also competed as a wrestler.
Now, Matt and his family reside in Breckenridge, where he has plenty of opportunities for community involvement, outdoor fun and recreation, and one-on-one client connection.
“My work is so gratifying. I get to meet with clients and help them achieve their financial goals,” says Matt. “Sometimes that means visiting with them at their home, hitting the ski hill together or grabbing coffee at a local shop.”
As for his volunteer work, Matt is passionate about the mission of the nonprofit Smart Bellies, where he now serves as a board director and helps organize fundraisers.
“Smart Bellies seeks to eliminate food insecurity for children in Summit County. I started volunteering with them three years ago when they were in the start-up phase,” he says. “The program helps supplement weekend food needs for elementary-age students, most of whom benefit from the free lunch program through the Summit School District on weekdays, but often experience a shortage on weekends. We try to source fresh produce from Colorado producers when possible.”
Matt’s wife Erin, whom he met on the East Coast, is from Littleton. Her family owns and operates Eagle Rock Ranch in Jefferson, Colo. Not coincidentally, the Michalski family is involved in their local 4-H Club and the Colorado State Fair.
“We spend many weekends helping raise happy beef cows,” says Matt. “This involves getting my three young children on horseback, and spending time with grandparents.” In the winter, the couple’s kids play ice hockey, so he and his family are regulars at all the local ice rinks from Telluride to Steamboat.
