Jesse Bopp, Alpine Bank Wealth Management Vice President – Trust Officer, joined the team in 2018 and he serves clients in San Miguel, La Plata, Archuleta, Dolores and Montezuma counties.
Jesse began practicing law in 2005 with a focus on estate planning, asset protection, conservatorships, guardianships, probate and trust administration. His practice also included significant real estate and business law.
Jesse is well-versed in small business operations, particularly LLCs taxed as S Corporations. Jesse received the Southwest Colorado Bar ethics nomination in 2007, the Durango Herald Readers’ Choice Award for Best Lawyer/Attorney in 2013, and was runner-up in this category in 2014.
He volunteers as an officer with the Southwest Colorado Bar Association and is a Colorado Bar Foundation Fellow. “The Southwest Colorado Bar Association, among other things, organizes local attorneys to volunteer their time for the public good,” says Jesse. “They provide access to justice for those who cannot otherwise do so on their own.”
Although he was born in New York and his growing-up years were spent in Georgia, he was drawn to the wide-open spaces of some of the least populous states in the nation. He earned a bachelor’s in wildlife biology from the University of Alaska, a master’s in river ecology from the University of West Virginia and a law degree from the University of Wyoming.
In fact, Jesse lived in a small cabin with no running water — and an outhouse — for three winters in Alaska while attending University of Alaska in Fairbanks. That may also explain his love of adventure motorcycling, skiing and camping. “I’m also drawn to all things history and board games with family,” says Jesse. “We like to compete!” The Bopp family has several beloved pets.
Although he takes his work seriously, when it comes to himself — not so much. Jesse likes to create laughs with colleagues, take midday walks and (quietly) listen to music.
