Pete Yang is a Senior Vice President in Lending at Alpine Bank in Aspen, Colorado and is the co-chair of Alpine’s “Green Team,” which is responsible for Alpine’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
Pete received his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and finance from the University of Michigan. He furthered his professional education by attending the prestigious Pacific Coast Banking School during the mortgage crisis and Great Recession. This allowed Pete to compare how economic downturns impacted banks in different geographic regions and markets.
Pete was first drawn to Aspen for the skiing and outdoor recreation opportunities, but he also fell in love with the Aspen community. Given his background in accounting and finance, community banking was a natural fit. Pete has now been lending to local Aspen businesses and community members for over 16 years.
In his role at Alpine Bank, Pete deals with all sorts of consumer and commercial loans, focusing on resort markets on the Colorado Front Range and Western Slope. He helped finance phases of construction for Snowmass Base Village, including single family homes on Fanny Hill. His clients appreciate that he understands the importance of protecting the environment, as the mountains are where people in Aspen live, work, and play.
An active member of the Aspen community, Pete currently serves on the board of the Aspen Chamber Resort Association. When not at the bank, you can often find Pete outdoors skiing or snowboarding over 100 days each season alongside his wife Ginny and kids Bodhi and Alexa, who are competitive freeride athletes. The whole family has a passion for winter sports. Pete serves on the board of the Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club, where his children train.
Pete also has a deep interest in sustainability. Before entering the banking profession, he volunteered with the Rocky Mountain Institute and taught a university course in China about energy and resource efficiency. Pete looks for opportunities to implement environmental best practices at Alpine Bank and with his lending clients. His outdoorsmanship and environmental ethic make Pete Yang an ideal banker for the Aspen community.
