Legacy anniversaries abound in 2023. In addition to commemorating its 50th anniversary as an organization, Alpine Bank celebrates 20 years of the formation of its grassroots Green Team, the 25-year mark of the start of its wealth management division, and 40 years of publishing Community News.
Twice each year for four decades we’ve compiled a roundup of the stories that make our community organizations and partnerships so meaningful. In this issue we carry on the tradition and look forward to doing so for decades to come.
As a corporate citizen in Colorado, at Alpine Bank we believe that giving back to the communities that made us successful is vitally important. This past January we celebrated our founder, Bob Young, and the opening of the first Alpine Bank in Carbondale, Colorado, in 1973, as the kickoff to an exciting and significant year. In keeping with our philanthropic philosophy, Bob Young and Alpine Bank Carbondale gifted five nonprofits $10,000 each, for a total of $50,000.
Awardees were local organizations benefiting Carbondale and the Roaring Fork Valley and included Stepping Stones, Ross Montessori School, Mount Sopris Nordic Council, English in Action and Carbondale Arts. The party was enjoyed by bank leadership and many original customers.
In addition to the nonprofit awards, a grand prize giveaway of tickets to a Colorado Avalanche game for 20, and $5,000 in cash, was awarded to lucky winner Debbie Wilde by random drawing. Debbie founded Valley Life for All — an organization dedicated to leveling up inclusivity for disabled individuals, served as interim director for local food bank Lift-Up, and ran YouthZone — a nonprofit dedicated to fostering positive development for youth and teens — for many productive years.
