Alpine Bank provides each of its full-time employees with 24 hours of paid volunteer time annually. With 890 employees, we have the potential to provide 21,360 hours of community and nonprofit service each year.
Todd Baize, Senior Vice President, Telluride
Organization: Telluride Fire Protection District
Length of volunteer service: 17 years
Volunteer role: Engineer/Firefighter

Who could pass up the opportunity to be a firefighter? You get to drive a fire truck to an emergency scene, rescue people in car accidents, enter burning buildings and stop wildfires before they burn a neighbor’s home. Joining the Telluride Fire Protection District as a volunteer firefighter has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done. There is tremendous joy that comes from serving your neighbors in their times of need. The other important benefit of volunteering as a firefighter has been the relationships built with other brothers and sisters in the fire service, people I consider family.

As a Sustainer, I have the long-term experience that allows me to be in a “consultant” position for any of the committees. I believe you should participate and help grow the community in which you live!
Paige Ferguson, Consumer Loan Administrator IV – Central Operations
Organization: Flat Tops Rodeo Bible Camp

In 2022, my fiancé and his sister introduced me to Rodeo Bible Camp. Since I am passionate about helping the youth of today navigate life and find strength in God to make it through anything, I was excited to volunteer. Even though I had zero knowledge about Rodeo, the kids helped me out and it was such a great weeklong experience. After camp, Flat Tops Cowboy Church in Silt began a youth group called Continue the Ride every Monday night. It has been a great opportunity to continue volunteering and making an impact on today’s youth. Alpine Bank was one of the sponsors for RBC, and if they didn’t support our volunteering efforts, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do with RBC. Thank you, Alpine!

Volunteering with Lincoln Academy (LA) allows me to give back to my kid’s school in a way that utilizes my talents. LA is a charter school, which allows us to form our own curriculum and challenge our students to be their best selves, academically and personally.
Shannon Markley, Commercial Banking Sales Specialist – Montrose
Organization: Girls on the Run of Western Colorado

Girls on the Run offers programs designed to inspire girls of all abilities to recognize and embrace their inner strength and make meaningful connections with others. In 2016, I participated in the Girls on the Run 5K year-end celebration in Montrose. I cheered on the participants and witnessed first-hand the joy, elation, support and encouragement that young ladies gave each other as they crossed the finish line. I immediately knew that this was an organization that I wanted to be involved in. I became a coach in 2017 and joined the board in 2018 where I currently serve as vice president. Girls on the Run, So Much Fun!
