Stop Fraud Colorado!

As part of wishing you a happy holiday season, Alpine Bank wants to share some tips from the Colorado Attorney General on how to keep your holiday fraud free. Unfortunately, this time of year provides opportunities for unscrupulous individuals to take advantage of peoples’ generous natures, be they small business owners, mobile app users, or retirees. Be alert for charity scams, lending scams, identity theft, illegitimate checks, and different types of fraud (even when dealing in real estate).

Some red flags of a charity scam include when a charity or its paid solicitor:

  • Can’t provide Colorado Secretary of State registration information
  • Won’t provide proof your contribution is tax deductible
  • Asks for donations in cash or asks you to wire money
