“North Mamm Peak,” by Lanny Grant

Lanny Grant resides near Silt, near the family ranch where he spent his childhood. Grant became infatuated with the High Country of Colorado and the West during family camping and fishing trips that became sketching trips. He began learning oil painting on his own at 10 years old. Grant studied life drawing at Adams State College in Alamosa, making frequent trips to New Mexico and gaining inspiration from the early master painters of Santa Fe and Taos. Grant studied portrait painting with Dallas artist Ramon Froman in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. His years of practice performing plein air painting have given him a gift for capturing the moods of the High Country. Grant’s paintings are on display at many Alpine Bank locations throughout the state.
