Green road trips

  • Plan your route from Point A to Point B to avoid backtracking or getting lost, which wastes fuel.
  • Research the area you’ll be visiting and scope out local farm stands to patronize.
  • Streamline stops to minimize the number of fuel-guzzling startups your vehicle makes.
  • Pack as light as possible, so you’re not burning excess fuel transporting the weight of unnecessary items.
  • Tune up your vehicle and check tire pressure to ensure optimal fuel efficiency, and lower emissions.
  • Unplug unnecessary appliances at home while you’re away.
  • Bring your own food and water in reusable containers.
  • Keep speed below 60 MPH for fuel savings.
  • Minimize air conditioning and heater usage.
  • Opt for picnicking rather than restaurants (especially fast-food joints).
  • Never dump trash, even the biodegradable items, because food in the wild can endanger wildlife.
  • Stay at eco-friendly hotels.

    Happy green travels!
