Green Cleaning

The basic idea for being green when you clean is to be environmentally friendly and have less of an effect on human health than with traditional cleaning products. Using green-cleaning products and natural cleaners offer a safe and non-toxic way to clean your home. From cleaning the kitchen, bathrooms, windows and more, green cleaning uses products that are made up of environmentally- friendly ingredients and also may have eco-friendly packaging.

Here are four tips for green cleaning:

  • Look for products that are labeled as ‘zero’ or ‘low’ VOC, which stands for Volatile Organic Compounds.
  • Baking soda, lemons and vinegar are considered natural green cleaners that can be done as a ‘do-it-yourself’ cleaning product.
  • Avoid products that have artificial colors or fragrances, phosphates or chlorine.
  • When shopping the cleaning aisle, you may find products labeled as made from recycled packaging, are biodegradable or supportive of environmental causes.
