Go Green at Home

Recycling around the home goes far beyond the weekly recycling bin pick up. There are many ways to “go green” and do even more earth-friendly practices around your home outside of the normal plastic, aluminum and glass recycling. Let’s look at a few different ways to reuse, recycle, repurpose and upcycle around the home.

  1. Books- Unwanted books can go to a charity, library, shelter or be sold online through Amazon, eBay and other popular sites.
  2. Clothing- Pass on clothing among friends and family members, have a garage sale, donate to a charity or place an ad online.
  3. Electronics- Most communities have special locations (and days) to take old electronics for recycling.
  4. Furniture- From donating, selling or repurposing it, furniture offers a wide variety of ways to recycle.

Recycling is not only good for the planet but can also potentially help make you money if you are selling items.
