Education Wins Big in Summit County

On March 30, 2018, the Education Foundation of the Summit (EFS) held one of the most highly anticipated events of the year in Summit County. More than 30 teams of eight gathered at the Town of Silverthorne’s Pavilion to participate in the annual “trivia” fundraising night. Alpine Bank was there both as a sponsor and as a proud competitor. Several bank employees and their guests fared well against many knowledgeable educators. This worthy cause generated more than $20,000 that evening alone.

The EFS provides outreach, leadership, creativity and funding for programs that are beyond the scope and means of the Summit School District. Since its inception in 2016, the foundation has raised over $500,000 for schools. This ability to support the schools would not be possible without the generous involvement of local companies which sponsor and participate in the Trivia Night event This year’s presenting sponsor was Kaiser Permanente.

For the first time winning teams split the monetary awards among several schools based on need. The results: 1st Place, Summit Cove Elementary was granted $1,000, 2nd Place Club Z Tutoring secured $500 and 3rd Place was awarded to Carlson & Carlson in the amount of $250. After all three places received their bounty, not only did (6) six individual schools benefit, it can be safely said that education in Summit County, was in every way, the overall BIG winner.
