Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO) is a movement that unleashes the human spirit every day throughout our state through the transformative power and joy of sport. Through programming in sports, health, education and community building, SOCO is tackling the inactivity, stigma, isolation and injustice faced by people with intellectual disabilities (ID). Our work goes far beyond sports events, driving social change that enables full social participation for people with ID.
SOCO delivers high-quality training and competition in an inclusive culture through Unified Sports which allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to play on the same field. We offer 22 individual and team sports that provide meaningful training and competition opportunities for athletes ranging in age from 2 to 99! Today SOCO serves 20,000 Colorado athletes, but there are still 170,000 individuals with intellectual differences in the state, and it is our vision that every one of them joins our movement.
